About us :

Le Calepin Jaune (The Yellow Notebook, as a tribute to The Yellow Book) is a French quarterly illustrated fanzine (amateur paper printed magazine) that specializes in fantastic genre literature and the nineteenth century.

Since 2003, we have published several issues, featuring both new talents of today and great fantastic writers of the past, contemporary illustrators and old artists.

Le Calepin Jaune is published in black and white and in A5 size, under either a black lineart on faded yellow cover or full color cover depending on the issue (and of the print shop prices ;)). It features international writers and artists but is usually only available in French language. The price for the regular issues is 6 € (Six Euros), that is about 8 $ (Eight USD) -- shipping and handling are included for France metropolitan only.

However, one special issue in 2006 was in full color and available both in English and in French versions, it has been available in July 2006 and was a special "Pin-ups and Horror Stories of the 1950s" bootleg issue featuring Dita Von Teese in an exclusive interview, the great Catherine D'Lish, photographs of Bernie Dexter, Sabina Kelley, Heidi Van Horne and many more lovely and amazing modern pin-ups and their photographers as well as short-stories by young writers and articles about pin-ups and horror books and movies of the time (among others, articles about Richard Matheson and Ed Wood). This special issue has been sold worldwide via PayPal (and more rarely via checks in Euros) for about 19 $ (Nineteen USD). More information about this on this page.

The Calepin Jaune team counts 4 members, Eric, Klaus, Rodolphe and Estelle, who read and review submissions and complimentary press copies (the latter, whether they're books, films, comics... we only accept to review when related to the nineteenth century and the fantastic). The editor in chief and "head honcho" of the fanzine is French writer and illustrator Estelle Valls de Gomis who also is responsible for the book-design and web-design of the fanzine and its site.
